Our first meeting

It was our inaugural meeting. I arrived fifteen minutes later than I’d planned, and was a little frazzled. Catherine made soothing sounds and made me a cup of tea.
She’d put out books, pamphlets, cards and magazines on the dining table. There were also two sets of cards in a bag to which I added my set of colour cards (The Secret Language of Colour).
The three other participants arrived within fifteen minutes of each other. One had travelled from Kings Heath (approx…. miles from Sutton Coldfield) on the bus in the cold. Each was asked to take a card from each set for use later.
Catherine began by explaining why she’d started the group, that it’s been a calling for quite a while, but that she’d now run out of ‘not yet, not now’ excuses. She said it was not a group for reading through the lessons and picking apart their meaning, but more one of using the principles of ACIM in our daily lives. These meetings would give us a chance to support each other in practical as well as spiritual ways.
She invited us to say a little about what had brought us to the group. Two people didn’t have a copy of the book and was curious to come along and see whether they’d be interested enough to buy it. One person had the book, had attended a support group before but had struggled with the ‘God’ language and with the way the group was run.
Catherine then took us through the first Principle of Miracles:
There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not ‘harder’ or ‘bigger’ than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal.
We talked about what this meant for us before moving on to our cards. As usual, the messages were meaningful for each individual and also with consistent themes that were meaningful for us as a group.
There was a great buzz by the end of the evening. Everyone was looking forward to the next one.
